Dear LBJA families,
I’m pleased to announce that some of our PE jerseys have arrived! For this first order I could only place a maximum quantity of 13, due to the backlog at NIKE. The second order has been placed and will be arriving soon.
Once everyone who ordered a shirt has received one, we will begin wearing them during PE. I think this is better to prevent anyone from feeling left out.
I’m also excited to say that LBJA Athletics is officially a registered Under 10 team in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League (CSL). I encourage everyone to check out the website. (www.cosmosfootball.org) CSL is an organized, fun, family oriented organization in Wheaton. I’ve known the owner/founder for years. I reached out to him regarding our young program and he was amazing in getting things squared away for us this spring. LBJA will play U-10 teams from all around the DC area. The league is COED and the competition should be pretty tough. All games are played on Sundays at Pleasant View Local Park (right behind the Montessori School on University Blvd). I’ve also made our own facility here at LBJA a consideration to the league director. If we can find the money for goals, some paint and a few other miscellaneous things, we could have a decent facility right on the playground. I will make our LBJA team available to 1st, 2nd, and 3rd grade. (I will do my best in finding the best fit for our Kindergartners; perhaps over the summer if not the spring).
If your son/daughter is interested, please let me know as soon as possible. I’m looking to have between 14-16 spots. Once I have my roster for the spring, I will start to hand out league waivers. The league fee works out to $20 per player/family. The sooner I have a definite commitment the better! We begin Sunday, April 12th. The children will wear their PE shirts/uniforms during games.
In order to play on our team for the soccer league, your child must sign up for LBJA Soccer Club on Wednesdays, as this will be our TEAM PRACTICE. Reminder: Clubs start next week so please sign your kids up.
I strongly encourage parents to play a role this spring. If you’d like to volunteer in any way, shape or form, PLEASE let me know. It will hugely benefit the kids. Don’t hesitate to contact me with questions or comments.
