PTO Weekly Roundup

Dear Parents,

Well, the class contest has come to a close for the year, and we are just absolutely blown away by what the kids have done this year and how much money they have raised for their school. Altogether, the kids raised a whopping $991.67!! Alone, they raised almost $1,000! That accounts for a very good portion of our total money raised for the year. Thanks to their efforts, we were able to purchase the electric piano in December, which has gotten a lot of use. And we are hopeful at will have the new sound system for the school very soon. It’s incredible to see the amount of pride they have in their school and the competitive spirit they have.

And now to announce the winner: It was a very close race, but, in the end, the THIRD GRADE pulled out the upset, leapfrogging the 1st and 2nd grades in the last week to win the whole year by raising a total of $246.02! They beat the 1st grade by only $3.07! It just goes to show you that every penny truly does count.

The 1st grade came in second for the year, raising $242.95! The 2nd grade rounds out the top three with a total of $235.73! The 4th/5th grades raised a total of $215.78 on the year. And the Kindergarten did such an amazing job by raising $51.19!

We will be having the contest party on Monday, June 5th. The 3rd grade will get a pizza and ice cream party, so they don’t have to bring lunch in that day. They will also get special prizes for passing the $200 milestone. But there are no losers in this contest. All the other classes will get ice cream to celebrate all the hard work they’ve done.

We can’t wait to start the contest up again next year and see to what new heights the kids will soar!

In other news, If you haven’t seen our emails, we have the following announcements:

1) End of Year Teacher Appreciation BBQ!  We will be holding a barbecue at LBJA on Sunday, June 11th, from 12:30 to 3:00, both to commemorate the end of the school year and to meet to give a special thank you to our wonderful teachers and staff.  See attached flyer for details.  NOTE: If you RSVP by June 4th, you get a reduced rate!!

2) End of Year Teacher Gifts!  As is our tradition, we will be collecting funds for distributing gifts to the teachers and staff at the end of the year.  We will ask Esther or Helen to hold an envelope for you to drop off in the office.  The suggested donation is $30/child.  Please make payment by check only (no cash!), made out only to LBJA PTO.  (If you make it out to just LBJA, we can’t cash it and we have problems.  Thank you for your understanding!)  Please make all donations by Monday, June 5th.
